Commissioned Dog Portraits!

Being an animal lover and having spent many years surrounded by pets of all kinds during my pet rescue years, I understand how important it is to not only capture the physical characteristics of your dog, but also the spirit within. I love bringing out the unique personality and spirit in each animal as well as the expressive characteristics of everything I paint. The tiny touches are important.

Weezer is a precious mixed breed shepherd who posed
willingly for this photo after a lot of play. This is a
watercolor portrait by Sami.

Gunner is a classic Yellow Labrador Retriever. He is full of fun and loyalty.
This is a virtual watercolor painting by Susie “Sami”.

Wicket is an engaging, spirited adorable Pomeranian. He is classic
in looks and very demanding as all small dogs tend to be. He thinks he is
big & has a big heart. This is a reproduction of an original watercolor of

This is Wallace with a personality to go with his name. He was full of curiosity and play and loved posing. Having had both goldens and a poodle, he was intriguing. Goldendoodles are a hybrid dog, a first generation cross between Golden Retriever and Poodle.  The photo is a High Key image, which consists primarily of light tones, without dark shadows.[/su_row][su_row]

Dakota was a beautiful black Labrador Retriever. The Labrador Retriever is a stockily built dog with a short weatherproof coat. His greatest skill was as a retriever from water.  He loved to hunt and was a very loyal family friend.

Oreo and Emmet were fun to paint. Emmet was a pug puppy and Oreo wasn’t at all sure of him. I took the photos for both of them separately and then organized this watercolor and ink painting.

This gorgeous shepherd is a Schutzhund Champion and the virtual painting was a surprise birthday present. His spirit shines through his eyes.

I took all the photographs of these dogs separately and then put them together with a dreamcatcher made by my client. It embodied the spirit of not only her dogs but her spirit as well.

Shadow was fun to paint and I had another earlier painting that I used to make them both similar as they were going to hang together. This is a digital oil painting.[/su_row][su_row]

Gideon is a Wolf Husky mix and the background is a waterfall that
I thought went with his wildness. This commissioned work
