Introducing My New Art Store

hydrangeas watercolor painted by Sami

Hi Again!

I am so excited! I’m like the energizer bunny that just keeps going! I am learning resilience, not return and this is a new chapter in my life. Continuing my art but in new ways. Choosing the new me after the traumatic brain injury. I am so excited to be painting again. I’ve been hard at work setting up my new art gallery store this past month.  It’s been a lot of early mornings and late nights to get the look I wanted, but I’m really proud of the results. My shop focuses on nature in places, animals (cats, dogs, horses, miniature donkeys), flowers, and wildlife including my favorites, wolves. I have added some adorable miniature donkey ink sketches and new photography. I am also working on two commissions, one, an adorable set of dogs and the other a portrait of a beautiful horse.

Below are some of my favorite images in my shop.

Enjoy!

Susie

P.S. I don’t have sales often, but I have a big one planned for Black Friday. Stay tuned for more details!

Wallace the Golden Doodle

I met Wallace on my first trip to the Rockland, Maine area. He has a personality to match his name. The next year I took Brandy, my young doodle to meet Wallace. It was a comical adventure with Wallace roaring his delight and my shy baby trying to hide. I will be adding some other pictures from my doodle adventures later.

Pumpkins, Fall Colors & Golden Retrievers

Pumpkins and Fall Colors

The featured painting is one I painted after a wonderful trip to Maine in 2006. I took a marvelous creative photography course with John Paul Caponigro and the painting is from several of my photographs. John Paul Caponigro is one of the most creative visual artists working today and his classes are a wonderful journey in themselves. We started with what has become one of my favorite books, The Way of the Traveler, by Joseph Dispenza. I still go back to that book before starting any new adventures and I am using it during my travels through healing from the car accident in 2014.  It is appropriate for this blog as it has been almost a year since I posted  due to therapy and a lot of healing. But the journey is still in progress, although I am painting again, playing with my new camera, and learning new ways of doing things that were second nature to me before.

Dispenza says, ” The dream of travel announces that each of us has the power to transform our lives in a fundamental way. And it promises that if we pluck up our courage and agree to undertake the journey, the road upon which we travel will lead to self-discovery. It is no small promise. Every time we leave home and go to another place, we open up the possibility of having something wonderful happen to us.” This is true of the healing journey as well.  A wonderful group of women in my Boardroom Group with Norma Rist gave me the courage and support to start my journaling again.  I can’t wait to see where this adventure will lead!

This painting of my neighbor’s pumpkins  begged to be painted in a virtual watercolor. I posted this in the last blog I did, but thought it was worth posting again as a coming home. Enjoy! Continue Reading…

Fond Memories of Maine

Fond Memories of Maine

pomWhile writing my wellness blog on Emotional Wellness this week, I started thinking about what I would do this summer for a vacation and the fun I had in Maine in 2006. I went there 3 times that year and for several summers afterwards. I went there for a watercolor workshop with Don Getz who I had met earlier in Peninsula Ohio at a workshop. Continue Reading…

Wallace

Wallace

I went to a watercolor workshop in the summer of 2006 and met Wallace while painting in Camden Harbor. I was there to paint but had my camera with me too. Camden Harbor has to be the dog walking capital of the world. I had never seen so many different breeds of dogs in one place and then Wallace walked by. He was the first golden doodle I had seen and I fell in love with him instantly. Wallace had a personality to go with his name. He was full of curiosity and play and loved posing. Having had both goldens and a poodle, he was intriguing. Continue Reading…
